Day 4

Saturday, July 24, 2010

Yesterday was a beautiful day in every way. When we woke up, the weather was cold and very windy. By mid-morning, however, the sun was out and it warmed up to be our best weather day yet.

The schedule was the same as the two previous days. John Zelenske shared devotions with the team before breakfast. John shared from Jeremiah 29:11 and told us his story of receiving a double lung transplant four years ago. God is so good!

Following breakfast we headed for the worksite. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we needed a good day at the site. God answered our (and your) prayers. We finished putting the primer on the walls and ceiling around 11 AM. Then, we began the process of spreading the plaster of the walls and ceilings. At the same time, part of the team began painting the outside of the church. At the conclusion of the workday, we had come very close to finishing the plaster. If we had not run out of materials, we may have been able to finish. The Indian workers that have been helping us at the site were planning to complete the floor after we left for VBS. We will not be able to go inside the church tomorrow as the floor needs to dry before Sunday.

Our final workday will be on Monday, the Lord willing. The goal will be to complete putting the plaster on the ceiling, paint the inside of the church, and complete the painting of the outside of the church. The church is going to be beautiful when it is completed!

The VBS was fantastic. Around 45 kids came on Friday night to hear the story of Jonah and the Whale. With the exception of one child who became scared of the whale and ran out of the church (of course, one of our people went after her to make sure she was fine), the kids loved the day. You would all be proud of the way our team is loving on the kids of India. We are approaching the night when the kids hear the Gospel presentation, so please be praying for their receptiveness to the gift of God in Christ.

We finished the day, again, in the home of another Indian family. Pastor Aaron shared the devotional thought on the Beatitudes (Matthew 5). We were challenged to think of the many blessings we have as the children of God. We have truly been blessed to be a part of the lives of these wonderful people in Kotagiri.

One of the highlights of Friday was the celebration of two birthdays in the home of the Indian family. One of the birthdays was the one-year-old birthday of the Indian family’s daughter. The other birthday was that of our own Eva Zelenske. Happy Birthday, Eva!

With Saturday’s free time, we will spend the day sightseeing. Our plan includes traveling to the highest peek in Tamil Nadu. If the weather is good, we should see some breathtaking views. We will also visit a tea plantation, have a chance at horseback riding, and enjoy some shopping time.

John, I, now believe in miracles..........India has made you looking like a "Maharaji".
Enjoyed the pics, seen the sweats, the joy in the children's faces..........you, guys, are doing a good job.
Praying for health, a safe trip back home and looking forward for more stories.
Today's worship service went very well with Jack leading the "B" Team. Jack was the stand-in as a Senior Pastor, but no one came to see him in the parlor after the benediction. I guess the first-timers are waiting for the "A" team Senior Pastor to be back.
God bless,Yvonie
