I'm New

Welcome to Living Word Church of the Nazarene!  Whether you're visiting us online or have attended one of our services, we would like to welcome you to LWN and thank you for your interest.  Here at LWN you'll find a community dedicated to the service of Jesus Christ.  LWN is a community built on the faith of Christ's perfect love for our church, our community and our families.

Considering going to a church for the first time, or the first time in a long time can raise questions. We have tried to answer some:

What time are services?
Worship services are Sunday mornings at 10:45 in the Worship Center; Sunday School begins at 9:30 Sunday mornings in various classroom locations. You can check a Campus Map for locations or ask one of our Greeters and they will personally escort you to a classroom.

How do I get to Living Word Church (LWN)?
We are located at 16607 Clay Road, Houston, Texas, 77084, between Hwy 6 and Barker Cypress.  Clay Road is 6 miles North of I10.

Are there parking places reserved for first time guests?
Visitor parking spaces are located in the West parking area with two entrances off Clay Road.

Are your buildings handicap accessible?
Handicap parking and access is available at each door. Assistance is available upon request.

What happens when I come into the church?
If you are visiting on Sunday morning, please use the West parking area entrance, under the canopy. Greeters can provide you information and directions. Be sure to stop by the Information booth for brochures about our upcoming events. Greeters will be there to answer your questions.

What small groups, Weekend Bible Study or Sunday School classes are offered?
LWN has many small groups within our  church. We encourage people to check out our Bible Study Groups on Sundays at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday School classes at 9:30 a.m. in order to get to know people just like you. Greeters can explain the classes available, escort you to the correct room and introduce you to someone in the class.

What childcare is offered?
Kid’s Life Nursery is available for babies and toddlers, ages birth to 3 years.  Ask any greeter to direct you to our Children’s Center.

What do I do before the service starts?
Sunday services take place in the Worship Center, which is an auditorium filled with rows of comfortable pews. There are no reserved seats, you may sit anywhere. Each pew has a book rack with hymnals and a Bible. As you enter the Worship Center, you will receive a copy of the Worship Bulletin that gives you information on the activities at LWN and shows the order of the service. If you arrive after a service has started, an usher will help you find a place to sit.

What is the worship like?
Services last about 75 minutes. Sunday morning is a contemporary, casual worship service. Music is provided by our Worship Choir, Orchestra and Praise Team.  Bible-based preaching, along with multimedia presentations, makes this service a weekly blessing for our members and guests.

How are guests greeted?
As you arrive, our greeters and other members may recognize you as a guest and extend a friendly greeting. As a visitor, you will not be asked to stand.  However, we would like to know you were our guest and ask that you sign our Friendship Register.  We have a Welcome gift for you which will discreetly be passed out as part of our Worship service.

How will I know when to stand?
The pastor or the worship leader will ask the congregation to stand or sit. Generally, we stand during congregation songs and short readings, which are displayed on large screens. You may sit or stand at anytime you wish.

What is the preaching like?
Our pastor gives Bible-based talks, lasting about 25 minutes. They are accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation. You can listen to past sermons by clicking here.  (media)

Do you have a crying room available?
No, but if you have a baby who is not comfortable, we would like you to check out our nursery facilities. We provide trained staff to assist you.

Do you give invitations at the end of the service?
Many times at the end of Pastor’s message, he will ask if anyone seeking spiritual help would like to come forward to pray at the altar.  Someone will come to pray with you, for you, and be available to offer any guidance or help you may desire.

Do I need to donate money when I visit?
LWN encourages biblical tithing for regular attendees and members; however our guests are not expected to give anything.
